I have a lot of respect for Gore because he has been pushing for more consideration of global warming for a long time despite the fact that until recently few politicians would address the subject. I think a lot of the ill will towards him is due to the unfortunately successful efforts of extreme right wingers who went after him with a vengence.
Until recently the right wingers claimed global warming was something Gore and the liberals mad up. Now they apparently believe it is real (guess the shrinking polar icecaps finally convinced 'em0.
